#9 LARVA/ARROYO

Today is a special day for me.
I'm putting out something that I'm involved in musically.

Presenting...

My first split tape.

LARVA - STOP KURT COBAIN WORSHIP

and

ARROYO - ROTTING CORPSE OF MORBID BEER GRINDS

ARROYO hail from Finland. A big tourist area from what Wikipedia says. I found these guys out on Youtube here.

Since I was already planning on releasing some LARVA stuff I thought it'd be cool to find a band to do a split with. I hit these guys up and we exchanged words and we liked each others material. I was surprised that he liked my stuff. Either way, he sent me some material that they were wanting to release since early 11'.
Super awesome raw as fuck mincing grind.

I was very happy to do this and very honored that they agreed to do the split with me.

As for the LARVA stuff.
A little backstory.

For about 4 years now, I've been active in LARVA.
It was never for the purpose of spreading it out and gaining recognition.
It was just something I would do to kill time.

Although I have other bands and projects. LARVA (formerly known as BLue Cheese) was my first venture into the music underground.

I had posted videos on youtube and such and had a myspace way back when...which I believe is still active with one song (My Mom Thinks We're Stupid Fucks)

After I became involved with my first real project WAGES OF FEAR, I put the noise aside. When shows were scarce and practices were skipped for two weeks in a row I'd become anxious and re-boot my noise engines.

Now, unlike most conventional noise enthusiasts. I myself don't own a four-track recorder. I don't own any fancy gear. Nothing that would even lead for people to believe I do anything musically in either the amateur or professional level.

I have a mic. As you can see in the picture, I rarely use it and it has become a nice addition to the wirey mess underneath my computer desk.

With that mic I hold it up against my guitar amp. Play some random notes and scream like an asshole on top of the whole noise mess.

Drums are a whole different story, which I will explain to those who care to read.

Since I don't own a drumset anymore (lack of space) I actually sample
lone drum sounds in songs.

I've sampled The Queers, The Meteors, Crucial, and Infest. In this pattern.

THE QUEERS (Snare and bass drum- Don't back Down, I'm OK You're Fucked)

The Meteors (Crash - Little Red Riding Hood)

Crucial (High-hat- Total Monstrosity)

Infest( Snare (varaint) Sick-O)

After I've sampled all the drum sounds, I sit for hours upon end tediously fixing each hit to match a pattern I'm aiming for. I use audacity. And it looks something like this with the drum sounds.

As you can tell, this particular song only has about 2 seconds.
After 6 hours or so, a song will look like this.

All this and more to make one song for LARVA.
Sometimes I just say "fuck it" and re-use the same patterns over again.

Other times I'll use my voice only and manipulate it so that I can get cool reverb and tremelo effects in.

Pick up the bass, add echo and Boom. Noise song.

In the end.
I did these tapes as a fun project.
This isn't something I'm doing professional.
I just like to make a racket and piss my neighbors off while doing it.

If I can meet other cool bands while in the process then it's a double win for me.

The tapes themselves are sprayed in what I like to call "Orge Cum" spray.
Just think of Shrek and Fiona, the color of the tapes will give a better indicator than my imagery.

I also reused an image I had done for a SORDO t-shirt and added the band names as well as the material names as the cover.

Included are inserts with contact info and track listings as well as thank yous.

Hit up arroyo here.

#8 SCUMDOGS

Today is an anxious day.

Two things are happening at the moment.

The first is that I may become an uncle at any minute.
My brother and his fiance headed over to the hospital.
I can only hope that all turns out fine, and that we are rewarded with the chance to raise a healthy baby.

The second is the new release that I just finished up some time ago.

SCUMDOGS - DOGGIE STYLE GRINDCORE.

This by far is the coolest and funniest cover I have ever seen in my time. Scumdogs graciously allowed me to grace their re-issue with a new cover.

That new cover being that selfish prick GW2 taking a nice heaping serving of Osama.

From what I see they have available on their facebook and reverbnation they only have one song. An "Intro". Intro's in my opinion have and never will count as actual material. Nor will outros, prologues, epilogues and so fourth.

It's something that they should change quickly (in my opinion). Their actual material literally just pulvarizes you with blast-beat onslaughts and  face-ripping riffs. Top it off with maniacal vocals that sound like they're in panic.

Great great stuff that shouldn't be overshadowed by a slow intro.
18 songs of rad grind with an UNHOLY GRAVE cover to end it all.

Check out their facebook here and beg for a copy.

#7 PRIAPUS.

NEW release!

Like I said before, when I have EVERYTHING I need to work with, making tapes is faster than rubbing one out to Margaret Thatcher on a cold winter night.........wha?

Today I finished up...

PRIAPUS - AIRLOOM

50 single sided tapes.
Sprayed in various colors.
With a sweet double sided J card.
With all the info included.
And! There's a hidden bonus track!

WOW!!!

YOU SHOULD TOTALLY GET IT NOW!!!

Trust me. These guys rip like a freshly sharpened hacksaw through infant zombie flesh. Constant tempo changes and rhythm patterns which keep the mind alert and in awe.

Check em out here.

Do these guys some good and support them.

#6 ULTRA//NEGATIVE

You see!
Once I have absolutely EVERYTHING I need to work with it's no hard task to knock projects out in daily succession.

Today's new release is ULTRA//NEGATIVE - Finally, I'm At Peace

I'm not gonna lie. Doing this made me sick to my stomach.
I'm not the kind of person who gets their kicks looking at gore pictures and such.

I don't mean to sound judgmental towards others and the way the live their lives.
But I ALMOST didn't want to do this release for the sole reason of the gruesome pictures.

Alas, the band really hit me hard.
The songs remind me of Charles Bronson fused with Das Oath.
Essentially the same but instead of either playing fast ALL the time, or rolling along on a more stable manner.
These guys had the right combination.

Great songs and well worth many times listening.

Check em out here.    https://www.facebook.com/pages/UltraNegative/173811736025874

#5 HIROSHIMA VACATION

I'm sure by now people of a certain age know what Hiroshima is.

For those that don't. SHAME on you! Turn off your phone for 5 seconds and watch the History channel during the time when those big "boom-boom night lights" are in the skys.

But this isn't about Hiroshima.

This is about HIROSHIMA VACATION.

I was stoked when these guys asked me to press them on tape.
I was checking their stuff out when I received a message from VII.
He said this exactly.

"You seem like a legit guy..."

Okay, MAYBE i'm paraphrasing.
Anyway one week ago to this day it was announced that I would make some tapes for them.
My usual schedule is like this.

Day 1 - Dub tapes
Day 2 - Dub more tapes
Day 3 - Print inserts.

I usually have 50 tapes ready for bands in about three days time.

What held this release back a whole week was the fact that I ran out of printer ink.
I ordered some a while ago, from Canada......no wonder it's taking so long.

When it FINALLY arrived the product was this.

As you can see from my hardcore Powerpuff girls blanket...

I made these guys 50 single sided tapes.
All sprayed RED upon request.

Why did I caps RED?

RED means power!

These guys are POWER!

These guys are fucking insane.

I'm not much of an Iron-Lung fan.

This duo of brothers pulls it off WAY better than Iron-Lung in my opinion.

The tape starts with a noise sequence.
Which leads to an utter chaotic noise massacre.
An assault of pure brutality which makes me sad when I realize it's only 10 minutes.

This is how EVERY band should sound.

No wait....scratch that....if EVERY band DID sound like this, then this wouldn't be anything special.
How could it be if EVERY band sounded like it?

That is what sets these cats apart from the rest.

Check em out here.

Hit em up and support them.

They got more stuff coming out soon.
I myself can't wait.

#4 OPERATION GRINDCORE VOL1 V/A

New release and thus a new post.

I'm extremely stoked about this one for many a reason.

Let me give a bit of backstory.

So there I am, casually checking my email when I receive news that Gripe had gotten the tapes I pressed for them.

They sent a copy to a mr. Andrew Lipscomb of Operation Grindcore.

He really liked the tape and sent praises my way.

I asked him to like my DIY Noise Facebook page since I'd be doing more tapes in the future.

As soon as he liked it I noticed a large number of new likes.

I went to his profile and noticed he had posted a big shout-out to like my page.

After which I was stunned to find more than 70 new followers. That number is still going up as I write this!

Just now I'm forgetting how exactly we started to talk about a repress of his Operation Grindcore Compilation CD.

We exchanged a few words and faster than you could fathom...

The Operation Grindcore compilation VOL 1 was pressed on tape!

Limited to only 30 copies in a nice transparent blue spraypaint finish.

I was very sad to only be able to do 30 of these.
They came out very nice. And 24 bands were featured. By law, it should be that each band would receive a few copies. I would keep some to distro as would Andrew.

Unfortunately if I had continued to make more, it would of ended up costing a lot more than what I charged Andrew to make em. ($0)

Printing up the cards drained my black ink really fast.
After the first 10 tapes my ink levels had drained to half capacity (these were new ink packs by the way).

I really wish I could of done more. This was a really good compilation with a ton of rad bands.

In the end, I got to keep 5 copies. Andrew 25.
Hopefully more can be pressed for the bands later on.

Go check out OPERATION GRINDCORE now!

Without him I wouldn't be getting to hear a bunch of rad bands.

#3 CALAFIAPUTA

I don't exactly know how I can stay up for long hours without feeling a single shade of fatigue.
I've heard that abnormal sleeping patterns have a huge impact on health. In my case, my weight.
Something that's troubled me since I was a wee lad. A LARGE wee lad. Should I even say "wee"? I was wearing mens pants in Kindergarten for fuck sakes.

Anyway.

NEW RELEASE!!!!

I recently came across a very awesome tight knit band from TJ.

These guys known as CALFIAPUTA.

Now I know what PUTA means. But CALAFIA was something that I didn't know.
I called up my dad and he told me that it meant some girl who was very easy.

BUT THAT"S BESIDES THE TOPIC.

CALAFIAPUTA are a raging PV band from Tijuana Mexico.
When I think Tijuana I think one thing...TACOS! Not that cheap shit at Taco Bell or the lame ass rip offs at your local "authentic" mexican bar&grills. Stupid fuckers charge 2 bucks for a taco.
PAY NO MORE THAN 50CENTS!!!

I pressed 50 single sided tapes and sprayed them in 4 different colors. 10 white, 10 red, 10 blue, 10 green and 10 clear.

My personal favorites are the clear ones only because you can see the recycled material on the back.

I even went ahead and used my nifty new stamp that I had ordered for my new found distro/label. This cute little thing was the coolest 7 dollars I ever spent. Small things like these make a big difference in my opinion.

So on the tapes, 1-48 are stamped with this and numberd. The last two are signed by me. (Lavish ain't it) More like pretentious haha.

Anyway,

This is a 10 song repress of their second cd. 12 minutes of intense hard-hitting PV that's sure to leave an impact on any listener.

Check em out and befriend them!
Buy their tapes and support the underbelly of rock&roll.
